Guard Tour App on iOS 27
Guard Tour App on iOS 27: Compatibility Test Results and a Pre-Update Checklist for Security Teams
Why an iOS Update Is an Operations Question, Not a Tech Question
Apple released iOS 27 on September 14, 2026. For most iPhone owners, a major update means new features. For a security company, it raises a different question: will the app your officers use to prove every round still work on tonight's shift?
A guard phone is a work tool. If an update resets a permission or stalls a screen, you won't find out in a test lab. You'll find out when a client asks for last night's patrol record and there's a hole in it.
That's why we test Trinity Guard® as soon as each major iOS release ships, and we publish the results on this page.
Test Setup

Test Results
| Test | What we checked | Result |

| App launch and session | App opened after the iOS update; the officer stayed signed in and the active shift was intact | ✅ Passed |
| Active shift and patrol tasks | My Tasks loaded the active shift with each patrol task, its scheduled time, and its status | ✅ Passed |
| Shift history | My Services loaded completed shifts from the platform, going back to July 2026 | ✅ Passed |
| Entry and exit control | Entry and exit records were created and saved to the platform | ✅ Passed |
| Incident reporting | Incident reports were created and submitted, with camera and gallery photo options (up to three images per report) | ✅ Passed |
| Chat messaging | Messages were sent and received in the in-app chat | ✅ Passed |
| Voice messages | Voice messages were recorded, sent, and played back; microphone access was still granted | ✅ Passed |
| Voice dictation | Spoken input was converted to text inside the app | ✅ Passed |
| Overall app performance | All tabs and core screens opened and responded normally, with no crashes or freezes | ✅ Passed |
What iOS 27 Changes for Patrol Work, and What It Doesn't
Device support stays the same. iOS 27 requires an A13 Bionic chip or newer, which means iPhone 11 and later. Every iPhone that runs iOS 26 can run iOS 27. If your officers carry older-but-supported phones, the update itself won't force you to buy new ones.
Apple Intelligence is not required. Apple's new AI features, including the revamped Siri, need an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, and Siri AI is not available in the EU at launch. Trinity Guard® doesn't depend on any of it. Our AI that checks whether a QR scan is genuine runs on the server, so an iPhone 11 on a night shift gets the same scan validation as the newest model.
The real risks are practical ones. The iOS 27 headlines are consumer features. For a patrol app, what actually matters after a major update is permissions, battery settings, and storage. The checklist below covers all three.
Pre-Update Checklist for Security Managers
- Update one phone first. Run a complete patrol round on it before you approve the update for the whole team.
- Never update mid-shift. A major iOS update takes time to download and install. Schedule it between shifts.
- Check free storage. Major updates need space. A full phone can stall halfway through the install.
- Confirm sign-in details. Make sure every officer can sign back in if the app asks.
- Re-check location access. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Trinity Guard and confirm the setting still matches your deployment.
- Re-check camera access. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera. Without camera access, QR checkpoints can't be scanned and incident photos can't be taken.
- Review battery settings. Low Power Mode can limit what apps do in the background. Set a clear team rule for long shifts.
- Use your MDM if you have one. On company-managed phones, schedule or hold the update until your test phone passes.
- Run one offline round. Turn on Airplane Mode, scan a few checkpoints, reconnect, and confirm the records reach the dashboard.
Our setup guides walk through permissions and first-round checks step by step.
Why This Matters Beyond One Update
To a client, a round that wasn't recorded looks exactly like a round that never happened. That's the whole reason a security patrol audit trail exists, and it's why a phone update deserves the same attention as a staffing change.
The same logic applies to dead zones. Parking garages, basements, and remote yards lose signal every night. An offline guard tour system keeps recording and syncs later, so a weak signal never turns into a missing record.
Built for the Phones Your Officers Already Carry
Trinity Guard® is a hardware-free guard tour app. Checkpoints are printed QR codes, and the reader is the smartphone your officers already carry. There are no proprietary wands, no docking stations, and no device firmware to manage on a separate schedule from iOS. When Apple ships an update, there's one thing to check: the app. We check it for you and post the results here.

FAQ
Yes. We tested Trinity Guard® v1.1.16-1 on an iPhone 16 running iOS 27.0 on September 15, 2026. The app opened with the officer's session and active shift intact, and patrol tasks, shift history, entry and exit control, incident reporting, in-app chat, voice messages, and voice dictation all worked.
Update one test phone first and run a full patrol round on it. Once it passes, roll the update out between shifts, not during them.
Any iPhone with an A13 Bionic chip or newer, starting with iPhone 11. Every iPhone that supports iOS 26 also supports iOS 27.
No. Trinity Guard® doesn't use Apple Intelligence. Scan validation runs on the Trinity Guard® server, so older supported iPhones work the same way.
Patrol records are stored on the Trinity Guard® platform, in the cloud or on your own server, not only on the phone. In our test, shift history going back to July 2026 loaded normally after the update. Before any major update, make sure the phone has synced so no offline records are left waiting.
