Founder profile

Gyula Györfi

Founder of Trinity Guard® and Digital Guard Tour. Trained as an electronics technician, then spent 26 years in law enforcement — from sergeant to lieutenant colonel, including 18 years in command and five years as a criminal investigator.

Background

Not a career change. A return to where it started.

Most guard tour software is written by software people who read about security operations. Trinity Guard® was specified by someone who ran them — and who started out building and troubleshooting electronic systems long before writing the first requirement document.

Electronics first, policing second

At fourteen I entered a military technical secondary school for air-defence systems. Four years of sensors, signal processing, power supply and cabling — and above all, of learning how to find the fault when something does not behave as it should. I graduated in 1996 as a certified electronics technician.

After one semester at an engineering college it became clear that the drawing board was not where I belonged. In 1997 I applied to the police academy.

What followed was twenty-six years. But what I build today is the same electronics I started with at fourteen — now in the form of camera systems and patrol verification software. The two skill sets did not follow one another. They converged.

Why this matters for a patrol platform

A guard tour system is not a scheduling app. Its real job is to produce evidence that holds up when someone questions it later — a client, an insurer, an auditor, a court.

Five years as a criminal investigator is exactly that discipline: collect the evidence, document it, and put it into a form that still stands months later. Sixteen years as a station commander is the other half — being the person who has to verify whether what the paperwork claims actually happened.

If it can’t be verified, it’s hard to take seriously.
Verifiable facts

Every claim on this page has a date and an institution behind it

These are not adjectives. Each item corresponds to an official Hungarian document that can be produced on request during vendor due diligence.

Service record

26 years, sergeant to lieutenant colonel

Sworn service from 1 July 1998 to 2024 in the Hungarian Police. Confirmed by the 20-year service medal awarded by the Minister of the Interior on 1 July 2018 — the two dates match exactly.

Command

18 years in command positions

Head of a traffic policing unit from 2007, then station commander from 2008 to 2024 at the same district police headquarters. Backed by a formal command qualification examination passed in 2008.

Regulatory side

Official inspection of private security firms

Auditing licensed private security companies was part of the job. That is where the operating picture behind Trinity Guard® comes from: what guard companies actually do, and what can genuinely be verified afterwards.

Why I left

I did not retire. Running a company was incompatible with sworn service under Hungarian law, so I had to choose. The security systems installer qualification was completed in 2022, two years before I left — the two careers overlapped rather than followed one another.

Areas of expertise

  • Guard tour verification and patrol documentation
  • Electronic security: camera and intrusion systems
  • Contract guarding from the client’s side: vendor selection and oversight
  • Evidence handling and operational documentation
  • Supervisory control, scheduling and personnel management
Credentials

Qualifications and certifications

All issued by Hungarian state institutions. Institution names are given in English translation; the original Hungarian titles appear on the certificates themselves.

  • Command qualification examinationInstitute for Law Enforcement and Crime Prevention, 2008. Public administration, integrated law-enforcement command and police administration.
  • Certified security systems installerMinistry of the Interior Examination Centre, 2022. Camera, intrusion and access control systems.

  • Electronics technicianHungarian Defence Forces Technical Secondary School, air-defence systems, 1996.
  • German language certificateIntermediate level with professional law-enforcement vocabulary, Police College, 2001.
Redacted copies of all certificates are published on the Hungarian-language profile. Full copies are available on request for vendor due diligence, procurement or partnership review.

Recognition

  • Out-of-sequence promotion to lieutenant colonel Awarded by the National Police Commissioner on 23 October 2022, in recognition of outstanding professional performance. The rank arrived ahead of the standard waiting period — it is a performance decision, not a length-of-service one.
  • 20-year service medal Awarded by the Minister of the Interior on 1 July 2018, for twenty years of sworn service and effective work in the Hungarian Police.

Several additional commendations and merit awards were received during the 26 years of service. Only the two above are listed here, because they are the ones that say something about level rather than volume.

Today

Two companies, one trademark

The Trinity Guard® trademark is held by Gyula Györfi as a private individual and licensed free of charge to both operating companies.

Trinity Guard LLC — United States

Operates Digital Guard Tour, the U.S. platform for Trinity Guard® guard tour technology. Registered in Wyoming. International sales and U.S. market operations run through this entity; engineering is handled by a Hungarian software team.

  • Founded: Trinity Guard® established in 2022
  • Reach: localized platforms in eight countries
  • Trademark: EUIPO no. 019242773

Trinity Security Kft. — Hungary

Electronic security company in Hajdú-Bihar county, Hungary: design, installation and maintenance of camera and intrusion systems for industrial sites, municipalities and residential properties. This is where the field logic behind Trinity Guard® was shaped.

The company does not provide contract guarding services — which is precisely why it can assess and recommend guard companies without a commercial interest in the outcome.

Hungarian profile

The same profile in Hungarian — with the certificates

The Hungarian-language version of this page is published on trinitysecurity.hu and includes redacted, watermarked scans of the diplomas, the command qualification certificate and the promotion order. Personal data is blacked out; institution names, fields of study and dates remain readable so they can be checked.

Questions

What U.S. buyers usually ask

Straight answers for security agencies, property managers and procurement teams evaluating who is behind the platform.

Why does a European police background matter to a U.S. buyer?
Because the problem the platform solves is not country-specific. Whether a patrol actually happened, whether the report matches reality, and whether a client can review the evidence afterwards — these are the same questions in Wyoming and in Hungary. The 26 years are what turned those questions into product requirements.
Is Gyula Györfi a retired police officer?
No. He resigned in 2024 because running a company was incompatible with sworn service under Hungarian law, not because of retirement age.
What does “out-of-sequence promotion” mean?
In the Hungarian police, ranks normally follow a fixed waiting period. An out-of-sequence promotion is granted ahead of that period for outstanding professional performance, and is signed off at national commissioner level. It is a performance decision, not an automatic one.
Can the credentials be verified?
Yes. Redacted copies are published on the Hungarian-language profile, and full copies are provided on request for due diligence, procurement or partnership review. Institution names and dates are given so they can be checked independently.
Who actually builds the software?
A Hungarian software engineering team. The domain knowledge and product requirements come from security operations experience; the engineering discipline comes from the developers. Neither side does the other’s job.
Does Trinity Security Kft. sell guard services?
No. It works in electronic security — camera and intrusion systems. It does not operate a guard force, which is why it can evaluate guard companies without a commercial stake in the result.
Next step

Test the system, not the biography.

A founder’s background is a reason to take a first look — not a reason to buy. The fastest way to judge Digital Guard Tour is to run it on a real site for two weeks and see whether the patrol records hold up.
